Brainport Eindhoven is consistently ranked as one of the top three most innovative regions in the world. With around 4,500 technology companies and a GDP per capita that rivals Amsterdam, it punches far above its size. For engineers, it is one of the best places in Europe to build a deep technical career. But the ecosystem is also layered and complex โ€” understanding who does what, and where you fit, takes time.

Navigating a career in Brainport

Many engineers start at a supplier (Sioux, Prodrive, Demcon) because these companies offer broad project exposure early in a career โ€” you might work on four different programmes for four different OEMs in two years. After building domain depth, many move to an OEM (ASML, NXP) for programme stability and specialisation. Others stay in the supply chain and build deep application expertise. Neither path is wrong; both are well compensated and technically challenging.
